Support the work KL&S does in the community with a one time or monthly donation.
Why donate to KL&S?
Kingston Literacy & Skills is committed to empowering and enriching lives through language and literacy, but we can't do it without your support. While a significant portion of our budget comes from funding provided by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario, there are many gaps in our funding when it comes to meeting individual needs of learners, launching new programming to engage our community, and providing necessary materials and resources simply not covered by our funding.
The KL&S WordLabs project is not funded through government grants and relies on donations, programming grants, and revenue from registrations.
Donations from generous community members like you fill our funding gaps and allow us to deliver programming that is personalized, responsive, and truly transformative for each learner or family we support. Donor funding covers needs such as:
-
Food security and early literacy materials for the Care for Newcomer Children program
-
Transportation support and resources designed for persons with a disability to succeed in Literacy & Basic Skills training
-
Community-building workshops for newcomer women and seniors
-
Bursaries to help pay for First Aid/CPR certification for learners seeking employment in Childcare and Healthcare
-
Volunteer training and materials for more than 35 volunteers that provide weekly English language tutoring
-
Keeping registration costs as low as possible for WordLabs workshops while allowing us to pay fair wage to local authors and artists
Donations can be made through CanadaHelps via the button above. Donations are tax deductible and a tax receipt is issued automatically at the time of donation. If you have any questions about donations, contact Christianne Wojcik, KL&S Executive Director, at cwojcik@klsread.ca.
